AAMH recognizes the value of conferences to networking, and supporting students to present their research to a wider professional audience. AAMH is offering two $1500 travel assistance bursaries to enable tertiary students to travel to conferences in order to present a research paper related to maritime history.

To be eligible to apply students must meet the following conditions:

  • Be currently enrolled in a recognised tertiary institution;
  • Their paper makes a research contribution to greater understanding of maritime history in Australia, or the wider Indo-Pacific region;
  • Have submitted an article about their research either as a paper (6,000 words) or research note (3,000 words) to the peer-reviewed journal The Great Circle.
  • Their paper will be delivered as part of a conference run by a recognized university or association e.g. Australian Association for Maritime History, International Maritime History Association, Australian Historical Association, Australian Institute for Maritime Archaeology, Australian Association for Historical Archaeology.

AAMH will assess all applications on merit and decisions will be final.
